WHAT IS VENTURE OKANAGAN?
SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) Okanagan, in conjunction with the Okanagan College School of Business, brings you the Okanagan’s first college led venture capital group known as Venture Okanagan.
Our objective is to introduce early stage investors and mentors to aspiring start-up entrepreneurs mainly in the Okanagan. Venture Okanagan offers investors a unique opportunity to discover and participate in the commercialization of innovative and promising ideas from the minds of the best entrepreneurs throughout the valley.
WHY BE INVOLVED WITH VENTURE OKANAGAN?
Entrepreneurs
Venture Okanagan provides entrepreneurs with a platform to showcase their promising new ventures in hopes to gain capital financing. Not only do we match aspiring entrepreneurs with investors, but we also provide them with the mentoring needed to get them “pitch ready”. Some entrepreneurs may have the ideas, but they don’t necessarily possess the skills to make it a viable business. Therefore our mentoring program was developed to aid them in their development to become a deal worthy for our investors.
Students
Venture Okanagan provides students with an exceptional amount of exposure to the world of entrepreneurship. Students get to be involved in the screening and mentoring process of businesses. This way, the students get to further advance their business skills and interact with the business leaders in the valley.
Investors
Venture Okanagan provides investors with the opportunity to participate in the commercialization of innovative ideas brought forth by the best entrepreneurs in the valley. To ensure the viability of such deals, businesses go through a series of mentoring processes. They are then put through a screening process conducted by our Investment Review Committee (IRC). The committee includes business leaders and faculty who are experts in the field of business analysis, ensuring that only quality deals make it to our investors.
